3 Amazon questions you should be asking too
Packaging, profit, and priorities...
This week’s episode is a little different.
We opened up the floor and you delivered.
In this edition of the Amazon Clinic, we tackle three questions we see (and hear) all the time:
1) “Should I avoid glass packaging on Amazon?”
Short answer: not necessarily.
Longer answer: design for the journey, not the shelf.
Amazon isn’t retail, it’s a multi-stage obstacle course. If your packaging can’t survive storage, handling, transit, and doorstep conditions… it’s going to cost you.
We break down how to:
Build packaging that actually protects your product
Test it (yes, including throwing it at a wall)
Balance durability with a great unboxing experience
2) “I don’t have much time, what should I focus on each week?”
If your time is tight, you don’t need more tasks, you need the right ones.
We simplify it down to three priorities:
Revenue (daily pulse check)
Ads (what’s working vs. wasting spend)
Inventory (so growth doesn’t stall)
Plus: how to decide where to act, not just what to monitor.
3) “Is ~18% profit on Amazon actually good?”
This one sparks debate.
For many categories? That’s solid.
But the real question isn’t just margin, it’s:
Are you growing?
What’s the contribution in real terms?
What are you willing to trade short-term to scale?
We unpack how to think about profit the right way (and what your director might be missing).
If you’re selling on Amazon, this episode will save you time, money, or both.
And if you’ve got a question you want answered next time, send it our way. We’re always looking for the next one to break down.
